About Us
The Race Issues Group is a multi agency panel that deals with racist incidents in the area of Cheshire, Halton & Warrington. It was started in order to bring together agencies in the area to look at common ways of tackling racism in the area and to develop a co-ordinated reporting system in line with the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry recommendations.

Since it started in 1999 the group has developed a common racist incident reporting form, raised awareness of the importance of reporting racist incidents through conferences and seminars and helped member agencies share good practice.

Its aims are to:

Raise awareness and encourage reporting of racist incidents.
Reduce the number of racist incidents by taking a partnership approach.

Develop a framework for co-ordinating the activities of participating agencies in responding to racist incidents.

Monitor, evaluate and review the collective success of dealing with racist incidents by maintaining information about incidents and action taken by agencies.

Share best practice in dealing with and preventing racist incidents.
Develop local casework forums to take action on racist incidents.
