What is a Racist Incident?
The definition of a racist incident is: ‘one that is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person’. So even if you weren’t the victim, if you thought it was a racist incident you can report it.

How Do I Report an Incident?
You can complete the online form or you can contact any of the agencies listed on this website, by e-mail, phone or in person.

If you are attacked contact the Police as soon as possible on 01244 350000, or in an emergency call 999. If you witness an attack, contact the Police with your information. All racist incidents will be taken seriously and dealt with correctly.

What Happens Next?
If you have reported an incident on our online form the Racial Equality Council will contact you directly about the incident. They may have to refer your details to another of the agencies represented on the Race Issues Group, but if they do they will still let you know what you can expect to happen next.

Confidentiality
When you report the incident the information will be given to other agencies within the Race Issues Group if you have given your consent to do this. If you haven’t we will only use the information anonymously to identify hot spots and the nature of racist incidents in the area.
